About Me
Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
Aloha I am Jen, the owner of Simply Nails by Jen. The picture isn't the best but this is me and this is my journey to finding my passion for nails and starting this business.
I found a passion in my life and have been following it by designing and creating nails for a couple of years now. When I was young I used to love painting my own nails and using different polishes to create simple designs but after graduating from college and during the past 28 years I have been working in healthcare so I couldn't wear nails for a long time due to the environment I worked in. I found other areas where I could express my artistic side over those years. I owned a small hobby business where I made wire work jewelry, torch (lampwork) glass beads, fused glass and more. You will see me bring some of that into this business along the way.
I have mostly learned this specialty through YouTube videos and practicing what I have learned. I am mostly a self taught artist but wanted to get a formal education by going to school to become a licensed nail tech (which I am currently enrolled in) and learning from other techs in the business as well. So far my education has included taking courses through Young Nails during the lockdowns in the basics of gel and acrylic as well as nail art in both. I fell in love with gel nail art but mostly dimensional nail design from one of their top educators. I am so honored to have been taught and mentored from her and so many other celebrity nail artists and educators. I am the type that loves to learn and I have been lucky to learn from some of the best in the business but I also don't let that go to my head. I am no different than anyone else in the world and try to stay humble.
To let you know a little about me in real life outside of education and work, here goes. My friends have told me I am authentic, kind, caring, and the type that will always be there no matter how long it's been between seeing or talking with one another. I sometimes don't believe that of myself but I am getting there. One thing I do believe in is my ability to overcome obstacles and my artistic ability. I am a survivor and have had what some have described as a challenging life outside of work. I have learned a lot of hard lessons and I believe this is what makes me humble and tending to wear my heart on my sleeve. I love getting to know people, helping them and making them feel valued. It may be a little harder to do online but you can count on me to be authentic and having integrity along with making you some kick ass nails!
